ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: The purpose of this study is to ilustrate acceptable results on patients with direct traumatic fistula treated by intratecal injection. METHOD: From 1984 to 1990, 42 patients were treated by intratecal air injection in lumbal puncture way, in quantity of 30 cm3 maximum.

RESULTS: All of treated patiets showed signs of post traumatic cerebrospinal fluid stopping. The antibiotic protection was given during 7 day period. CONCLUSION: If post traumatic cerebrospinal fluid doesn’t stop for the period between 24h-48h, intratecal air injection is beneficial in amount of 15 cm3 30 cm3.
